We participate in a number of college fairs throughout Nassau and Suffolk Counties, staffing a booth (or desk) to answer questions about Smith, give out pamphlets and so on.

Suffolk alumnae who wish to help out college fairs, interviewing, etc., please get in touch with Suffolk AAC Catherine Dignam: cdignam@ic.sunysb.edu and/or (516) 382-9478.
This past year (1998-99) was an extremely successful one, as our hardworking Almunae Admissions Committee did an incredible job of getting prospective students interested in Smith.
We had 59 applicants from Nassau and Suffolk (combined), with 37 admitted, 12 wait-listed, seven denied, two incomplete applications and one withdrawal. We also had one Ada Comstock scholar from Long Island! This was a significant increase over last year's 50 applicants.
Ultimately, 13 new students enrolled and were given a great big WELCOME at a tea at Stevy Feldmam's house back in August.
Our Long Island-Smith Big Sister/Little Sister Program is off to a great start, with nearly 20 pairings of upperclasswomen and first year students. For the most part, the AACs tried to make pairings of students in the same or nearby houses.
Once again, local interviewing is upon us. If you're in Nassau and can interview some students in your area, please call Stevy Feldman at (516) 358-9291, and for Suffolk interviewing, please get in touch with Catherine Dignam at (516) 382-9478.
When we get more updates, we'll pass them along and post them here as soon as possible.
Major kudos to everyone involved -- from our AACs Stevy, Barbara and Laura, to all those who did interviews, staffed booths at college fairs and did everything else.
